Getting started with Master Reseller hosting

Understand the hierarchy between your Master Reseller service, WHM resellers and cPanel customers.

Master Reseller hosting adds another management layer: you can create downstream WHM reseller services, and those resellers can create their own cPanel accounts. The exact Master control-panel labels depend on the upstream platform.

Step by step

  1. Start by reviewing the total cPanel/WHM/storage allowances assigned to your Master service.
  2. Define a small number of downstream reseller products with clear limits.
  3. Create each reseller with a unique username/domain and only the permissions/resources they need.
  4. Keep your billing/client records linked to the upstream reseller username.
  5. Monitor aggregate usage across all downstream resellers rather than treating each reseller as unlimited.
Important

Master Reseller controls are not a standard native cPanel hierarchy. Where HostLaunch documentation uses generic terms, follow the equivalent option in the Master panel supplied with your service.

Checks and troubleshooting

If a required action is not present, do not attempt to work around permissions using another customer account. Open a HostLaunch ticket with the service and action you need.
