Deleting a reseller account safely

Inventory child accounts, confirm backups and understand what the upstream panel will remove.

Deleting a downstream reseller is potentially more destructive than deleting a single hosting account because the reseller may own multiple cPanel customers.

Step by step

  1. List the reseller’s downstream accounts and determine what should happen to each one.
  2. Confirm cancellation and backup/retention requirements.
  3. Transfer ownership or migrate any accounts that must survive the reseller cancellation.
  4. Only then remove the reseller using the Master panel.
  5. Verify that no required customer data or DNS dependencies were unintentionally removed.
Important

Never delete a reseller simply to stop access when suspension will do. Deletion should be the final lifecycle action after downstream-account ownership is resolved.

Checks and troubleshooting

If the panel offers both “remove reseller privileges” and “terminate/delete account,” understand the difference before confirming the action.
