Creating your first cPanel account in WHM

Provision a customer account with the correct domain, username, package and contact details.

WHM → Account Functions → Create a New Account provisions a separate cPanel account. Packages define its resource limits and feature list.

Step by step

  1. Open Create a New Account and enter the customer primary domain.
  2. Choose a unique cPanel username and a strong password; add a real contact email.
  3. Select the correct hosting package instead of manually inventing limits for each customer.
  4. Review DNS/mail routing options and leave defaults unless you have a reason to change them.
  5. Create the account, record the result in your client/billing system and test cPanel access plus DNS.
Important

Check that the domain and username do not already exist. Creating duplicate or incorrectly owned accounts can complicate later migrations and billing.

Checks and troubleshooting

If creation fails, copy the exact WHM error. Common causes include reseller quota limits, duplicate domains/usernames, invalid names or package restrictions.
