Creating email accounts

Create mailboxes, choose quotas and connect them to webmail or an email application.

A cPanel email account gives you an address on a hosted domain, such as sales@example.com. You can read it in Webmail or connect it to a desktop or mobile mail application.

Step by step

  1. Open cPanel → Email → Email Accounts and click Create.
  2. Choose the domain, enter the mailbox name and set a strong unique password.
  3. Set an appropriate storage quota if your package allows it, then create the mailbox.
  4. Use Check Email for Webmail, or Connect Devices to view the secure IMAP/SMTP settings for mail apps.
  5. Send a message both to and from an external address to confirm delivery.
Important

Mailbox storage counts toward account disk usage. Avoid weak or reused passwords because compromised mailboxes are frequently abused to send spam.

Checks and troubleshooting

If sending or receiving fails, check the domain MX records and cPanel Email Deliverability. When configuring an app, prefer IMAP with SSL/TLS and authenticated SMTP.
